At Boulder Bibs, we love seeing the creativity that race directors and designers bring to their events — and we’re happy to print bibs using artwork you supply. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we get about race bib design files, formats, and how to submit them correctly.
Can I supply my own artwork for the race bib?
Yes! We’re more than happy to use your custom bib artwork — just be sure to follow these file guidelines to ensure the best print quality.
Artwork submission requirements:
-
Submit a vector file in
.ai
,.pdf
, or.eps
format -
Use CMYK color mode (not RGB)
-
Include a ¼” bleed on all sides
-
Convert all text to outlines
-
Embed all linked files or images before uploading
Need a template?
You can download our race bib templates here to make sure your design fits our standard dimensions.
Not sure what any of that means? No problem — just get in touch with us at sales@boulderbibs.com and we’ll walk you through it.
What kind of file should I upload?
For best results, we recommend:
-
Vector files:
.ai
,.eps
, or.pdf
(with outlined fonts and CMYK color)
We can also work with high-resolution:
-
Raster files:
.png
or.jpg
— just make sure they’re at least 300 dpi
If we see any issues with your file, our team will reach out to help adjust or convert it. We want your race bibs to look just as good on print as they do on your screen.

Pro Tips for Custom Bib Artwork
-
Leave space for bib numbers — they need to be large and clear
-
Add sponsor logos or QR codes if you want to maximize visibility
-
Stick to bold colors and clean fonts for best readability on race day
-
Avoid placing key text/images too close to the edge (hence the ¼” bleed)
